Brandy Toffee Apple Recipe
This simple Brandy Toffee Apple Recipe is easy to make, taking around 30 minutes to complete. This variation is undoubtedly for adults, but just remove the brandy to make them suitable for all the family.
Ingredients
8 dessert apples
8 wooden sticks
175ml golden syrup
500g dark brown soft sugar
180ml water
2 tablespoons brandy (if required)
Method
Step 01: Begin by inserting the wooden sticks 3/4 of the way into the stem end of each apple. Once the dipping apples are prepared, place the apples onto a baking tray covered with lightly greased aluminium foil.
Step 02: Combine golden syrup, sugar and water in a large saucepan and bring to the boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until thermometer registers 143 C. Remove from the heat and stir in the brandy if desired.
Step 03: Keep the saucepan over low heat to keep the toffee in liquid form for dipping the apples. Working quickly, carefully dip apples in the toffee. Once hardened, repeat the dipping process if a thicker toffee coating is desired. Place apples on the greased aluminium foil until coating has cooled and hardened.
Step 04: Enjoy!
Top Tip! Why not roll the apples in marshmallows, sultanas and pecans before the toffee has cooled or drizzle with a chocolate sauce for an extra treat!
