Cowes Golf Club
The Isle of Wight’s little gem is just 40 minutes away from Southampton or Portsmouth by fast ferry and celebrated its centenary in 2009. This excellent parkland course boasts some of the finest greens on the island and is located on the edge of Cowes with fantastic views over the Solent. Although nine holes, the course with alternate tees presents a challenging 18 hole test which many golfers have underestimated at their peril.
Even though it is on the edge of Cowes and surrounded by houses or the High School, the course is an oasis of peace and quiet occasionally interrupted by the antics of red squirrels and a variety of other wild life, from pheasants to foxes and the occasional hawk.
If you are visiting the Isle of Wight, this is the course that you must play or forever regret. Often busy with members playing, a call to the Secretary/Manager is recommended and if there is a tee time available, you can be sure of a warm welcome at Cowes Golf Club.
