Christie Bird
Christie was born in the British Virgin Islands in 1970 and studied at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston U.S. She moved to London to study History of Art, where she later worked as a muralist and set-painter. After marrying an Islander, and having 2 children, she now paints full-time.
Working in acrylic, she applies thin layers over a gesso base. Numerous watercolour sketches help her develop ideas and subject matter. Every work tells a story; the items selected for each composition carry important significances for Christie in her journey as a painter or as she likes to think of it ‘my journey as a story-teller’.
She has exhibited regularly in London since 2003, including The Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions 2008/2009. Island Fine Arts represents her work locally www.islandfinearts.com or The Russell Gallery, 12 Lower Richmond Rd., London www.russell-gallery.com
